Q: What is the difference between Nourishing and Hydrating Face Creams?
Our Nourishing range is suitable for most skin types - normal, dry, oily and combination. It comes in three variations. Sovereign is made with the organic, pure essential oils of rose, frankincense and bergamot, whilst Abundant is made with sweet orange oil. Included in this range is Rooted which doesn't contain essential oils which makes it perfect for sensitive skin or those with allergies to essential oils. The Nourishing Face Cream range is made with organic ingredients such as unrefined shea butter, hazelnut oil, sweet almond, argan and sea buckthorn fruit extract. Our Nourishing Face Creams are £16-£17.
The Hydrating range is created for those humans with very dry skin or mature skin. It is available in two variations. Wise is made with the heavenly combination of rose, frankincense and lavender organic essential oils, and Hero doesn't contain any essential oils. The Hydrating Face Cream range is made with organic unrefined ingredients such as shea butter, avocado oil, pomegranate oil, argan oil, rosehip oil and sea buckthorn fruit extract. Wise is our best selling product to date. Our Hydrating Face Creams are £16-£17.
None of our face creams contain water, alcohol, palm oil, SLS or any harsh preservatives or fillers. They are all 100% natural and vegan too. Kind to your skin, and to your wallet too because a tiny amount really does go a long way.
We hope this helps you understand the difference between our fabulous face creams.
Q: Is the cleansing oil suitable for oily skin? I'm worried it may cause breakouts.
Yes, our Pure Face Cleansing Oil is suitable for all skin types thanks to the beautiful botanical oils we have chosen to use. We know that to those who are new to oil cleansers, it may seem counterproductive to cleanse with oil. A few years ago we would have questioned this too and wondered if it could make our skin too oily. Oil cleansers work on the notion of "like dissolves like" - in this case, oil dissolves oil. Organic jojoba oil is one of the ingredients. It is very similar in structure to sebum, our skins natural oil. This in combination with other oils dissolves excess oils without drying it out.
The combination of oils we use helps to rebalance skin's natural oils during cleansing. Our skin actually needs oil. When you cleanse with a harsh cleanser it can strip your skins natural oils which can then cause your skin to create more oil to compensate.
Another amazing ingredient we use in Pure is organic hazelnut oil. This oil contains tannins, which are powerful antioxidants. The tannins make it an astringent that can help balance oily skin, cleanse and shrink pores, tone skin, and remove bacteria (excellent, therefore, in face
creams and cleansers, right?). In most skincare products, including cleansers, alcohol is used as an astringent, but many alcohol astringents can be harsh and can dry out or irritate your skin causing breakouts.
We offer a mini 30ml version of Pure for just £6 so you can give it a go without committing to the full size option (100ml - £16). We recommend you try it for 30 days. Sometimes when using new products there can be an adjustment period where you may breakout or feel your skin is more oily, but these should be temporary. Our customers who have oily skin and use Pure have given brilliant feedback.
Q: Are your products suitable for people with acne / breakout prone skin?
Some, yes! As with anything new, we recommend trying our products for 30 days as it can sometimes take a while for skin to adjust. Our oil cleanser is gentle with no harsh active ingredients so it's brilliant for all skin types. Customers with breakout prone skin and acne have told us it has actually improved their skin and not caused further breakouts but everyone is different. What works well for one person may not work so well for others.
Our Nourishing Face Cream range is also suitable and again we've had lovely feedback from customers with breakout prone skin and acne. The oils we've chosen to use help to rebalance your skin's natural oils, and they're fairly quick to absorb. We also use hazelnut oil which is incredible for oily, breakout prone skin. This range comes in three variations: Abundant is made with sweet orange and smells of fresh orange. Sovereign is just gorgeous and it's made with rose, frankincense and bergamot. Rooted is for sensitive skin or those who prefer not to have any essential oils in their face cream.
We don't make any big bold claims that our products will definitely help with acne as everyone is so different and will no doubt react differently. It's worth a try and we want to help. So if you're unsure, you can try our sample sizes to see how you get on.
Q: Does the cleansing oil remove waterproof make up, such as mascara?
Simple answer - yes it does This is because oil dissolves oil. Waterproof makeup will usually have oil or wax ingredients, particularly eye make up, and so water or water based cleansers aren't cut out for the job. You need an effective oil based cleanser.
Pure is made with 100% natural plant oils. It's suitable for all skin types and it is gentle yet really effective at removing all makeup and impurities. The organic hazelnut oil is a fantastic natural toner, and the jojoba oil will help to rebalance skin, leaving it soft and healthy.
Pure is the only cleanser you need.
Q: Is bergamot essential oil safe to use in leave-on products?
There are two types of bergamot essential oil. The regular bergamot oil has phototoxic components meaning that it isn't suitable for use in leave-on products like face cream.
We use bergamot FCF which is furocoumarin-free. The furocoumarin - the phototoxic component - is removed through distillation making it safe for skin application.
All of our products have been safety tested by independent laboratory experts. We have the full and legal safety assessments in place for all our products. These are called Cosmetic Product Safety Reviews (CPSRs). Therefore you can trust that all our products are absolutely safe to use on your skin. Your health is our priority.
We made a mistake when designing the labels for the products with bergamot FCF essential oil in - we only listed it as "bergamot". We're sorry about that and we're working through our labels to amend them. The products with bergamot FCF in are the Sovereign Nourishing Face Cream, Protect Hand and Foot Balm, and Glow Charcoal and Rose Face Polish Mask.
Q: Have your products been safety tested?
YES.
ALL the products you can buy from Wild Human Skincare have been safety tested and have CPSR (Cosmetic Product Safety Review) assessment certificates in place.
CPSRs are a legal requirement in the UK and EU, whether you're a small independent business or a huge multi-million-pound company. Most countries will have their own rules and safety assessments.
We talk about it because it's important that you know that you are buying genuine, skin-safe products from a reputable company.
If a company / sole trader doesn't have CPSRs in place, however lovely and natural the products seem, please avoid purchasing from them. Your skin is your biggest organ, and nothing is worth compromising that. CPSRs and safety testing can be any expensive process, but cutting corners here really isn't a good idea.
We also have business insurance that includes product and public liability. Another absolutely essential part of running a business.
